About GryffinRoar
GryffinRoar was established in the very early days of Pottermore beta. LightNimbus2 originally created it simply because she hated Tumblr and at that time, it was the only decent place to find information on Pottermore. Also, seeing that it was (and still is) difficult sending messages in the Gryffindor common room and Great Hall, she decided to add a chat room to allow other Gryffs to freely express their thoughts and frustrations on potions and lack of duels. Upon setting up said chat room, this is where she met CloakEye178 and RainAsh69, future site admins and collaborators. After Cloak's departure from GryffinRoar in November 2011, MidnightMoon126 joined the admin team. She currently plays a key role in ensuring that the entire site is up to date with new, relevant and exciting content.
At first, GryffinRoar (if you haven't already guessed from the name) was an exclusive Gryffindor-only site. Those where the days of anarchy and lack of organization (as compared to now) - fun times that will sorely be missed. But as interest on the site grew and beta started to fill up, we began to experience hostility from people sorted in other houses. At first it made us angry and sad because we didn't think that the animosity between the houses (as written in the books) would actually translate to real life. Because of this, we eventually decided to open GryffinRoar to all houses, keeping Dumbledore's dream of school unity and friendship alive.
Since then, we've had few incidences of house-hate occurring in the chat rooms. We also have Mods from other houses, eliminating the idea that only Gryffndors rule the chat. Though our users are predominantly from the house of the Golden Trio, you will always see our Mods advertising in the Great Hall, encouraging other houses to come and converse with us.

- To foster house unity and friendship between members of all houses.
- To enhance the enjoyment of users by providing up-to-date information as well as tips on Pottermore activities.
- To offer assistance to all Pottermore users in understanding the ins and outs of the site - glitches and all.
- To provide users with a platform to enable them to freely communicate with one another as compared to the comment forms in Pottermore.
