So much has happened already and I've only been out here in SA (South Africa) for 19 or so days. Getting here was really stressful, my visa arrived a day late, which to me was SO frustrating. Someone did some fast talking to allow me to arrive here in the MTC (Missionary Training Centre) a day late. But nevertheless my visa did come so on August the 24th I caught a direct flight to SA (Visa and departure on the same day). Man, an 11 flight is so long (ooh just this second a tiny lizard scuttled past me!! :) :) - BEAMING).
So arrive in J'burg not knowing how to get to the MTC and probably only had 2 hours sleep. Some guy has my name on a card so there is my ride. It takes an hour to get to the MTC by car.
Man it was sunny when I got here!!
The MTC is very simple. Lessons in morning and afternoon about the topics we teach and some basics of teaching, praise and sports inbetween. All simple stuff but that is difficult to put into practice. Still not sure if I am ready.
We have Saturday mornings off (P-day) to fool around, do some shopping and things. Sundays are church stuff and DVDs :)
The weather here is crazy. In the last 19 days we must have had like 3 days when it wasn't clear sky and sun. But those 3 days were like thunder, lightning and hail. See what I mean? Crazy. But man, it is so hot here all the time!!
Funny, I am in the biggest MTC group they have ever had in SA - 37 people (that is compared to like 4000 in the MTC Provo Utah) and we complain that it is too much lol. Including me, 20 people will be serving in Cape Twon so that is really cool.
It was so weird when I got my name tag. Had been living with people who have been wearing those for years, so it was pretty cool.
Because this is training we are also given companions. This is someone else that we have to sort of live with because missionaries work in pairs (to act as a witness for each other). My companion is from Zimbabwe, he is a cool dude. Also going to Cape. I won't be with him in Cape Town though. I will get a trainer.
All in all this stuff is just all cool, very tiring, I have slept a few times in lessons but I will always have fond memories of this MTC and its people.
I miss you all so much
Keep rocking hard (with cheesecake - oh I miss that)
