Tips for Polyjuice Potion |
- When crushing into a fine powder always stop as soon as you see the marker turn GREEN. If you find it annoying you click the pestle repeatedly; repeatedly clicking the centre of your mortar will also crush your ingredients.
- Always look at the counter when putting in ingredients. Most people make mistakes during this part and if you do, you will have to restart the potion. Also, make sure you know where you are putting your ingredients. Do not drop them in the wrong container, be very careful when dragging ingredients across the page.
- Wait a second after adding an ingredient and watch the counter. It may have added but lagged. If the count doesn't go up after a second or so, add again.
- Do not overheat the potion. As soon as the timer ends TURN OFF THE BURNER ASAP.
- When heating, keep the temperature between the two temperature lines. If you go over OR under, you will have to start again. Use the high heat control (for the low heat step in part I, use the low heat control to turn on your cauldron to be safe) to turn on your cauldron and then use the low heat and off controls to keep the temperature between the two lines. If it remains green, you're doing good!
- Be very careful with the heating of the cauldron in Part I. This is a narrow temperature range so the best thing to do is to switch between the first and second heating controls (off and low heat)
- FAMILIARISE yourself with the potion instructions BEFORE brewing. It helps to know what the steps are so you don't have to look back at the instructions all the time.
- You DO NOT have to do Polyjuice Potion part II straight after completing Part I. The Part I potion gets stored with your potions. Remember you still have to complete the second half of Part I after an hour (if using the copper cauldron).
- In Part II when adding lacewings to your cauldron, tip the bottle sideways on your bench, which will let out one lacewing. You then need to pick it up off the bench and add to your cauldron. If you try and balance it on your cauldron, there's a high chance you'll end up putting more than one in. Whenever you need more than one lacewing, you can balance the bottle on your cauldron.
