Below are the commonly asked questions by Pottermore beta users. Hopefully, these will change IF and WHEN Pottermore opens to the public... but for now, these are still true :)

All Things Pottermore

What else can we do to earn points?
  • Collect items, brew potions and duels... that's it.

What happens if we run out of Galleons? When will we get more?
  • After FINDING all the hidden Galleons on the site (click here for the list), you'll have to wait until Book 2 opens to get more so SAVE.

Why can't I move on to the Chamber of Secrets or look into the other Diagon Alley shops?
  • Because they're still closed... no one can access it.

Is it just me or is that coin next to Diagon Alley locked? What is that for?
  • That coin is locked for everyone. They say it's supposed to be Hogsmeade where you can buy the HP ebooks and it will open in the first half of 2012.

How can I upload my drawings?       
  • When in a chapter, on the left side you can see a character list. When you click on the person of your choice, you will then be led to said person's information page. Then scroll at the bottom to upload your artwork. You can also upload your drawing on GryffinRoar in the Gallery.

Can someone please explain the point system? I just don't understand it.
  • Neither do we and no one does, to be honest. All we hear are speculations and unless we get a proper explanation from Pottermore, this is all we can say.

Why do the people in the leader boards have that many points?
  • Because they were here on the 1st day when duels was still up and the point system was weird.

My ____ page isn't working. What should I do?
  • Try to use another browser first or upgrade your flash by clicking here. Usually its just the flash acting up. If that still doesn't work, fill out the feedback form which can be found at Help>Other>What's Next>Need More Help or you can click here. Be sure to add your Pottermore name when you fill it up!

Lots of things in Pottermore isn't working for me. Where can I send a feedback?
  • Well you have the survey type of feedback located at the top of the Common Room coin or you can go at the bottom of the page and click the Help link. Once there, click on Other then What's Next then Need More Help? or you can click here. Then fill up the form with your complaint... oh and don't forget to add your Pottermore name when you fill it up!

Potions and Duels

Is there a difference in brewing speeds between the 3 cauldrons?
  • As of the new update, yes, there is a difference in brewing speed between the 3 cauldron. The brewing time of brass cauldron is 85% of pewter cauldron, while copper cauldron brewing time is 75% of pewter cauldron. 
  • For example, the Sleeping Draught brewing times are 70 minutes for pewter, 60 minutes for brass and only 53 minutes when brewed in copper cauldron.

HELP! I can't brew!

I bought all 3 cauldrons. I can brew more than 1 potion right?
  • Sorry but you can't. We can only brew 1 potion at a time so if you bought all 3 cauldrons again, you've been scammed like the rest of us.

I have a potions glitch. Where can I report this?
  • The feedback form is under Help>Other>What's Next>Need More Help or you can click here as well and be sure to add your Pottermore name when you fill it up to speed up the process of having your potions glitch fixed.

When will duels be back?
  • The duel is back up! YAY!

How many points do we get from duels?
  • 5 points if you win so click here to know HOW to win.

How do I cast a spell?      
  • Spell casting, though much easier than potions, also requires some practice. Click here to get the proper know-how on spell casting.

Item Locations

Where can I find ____?

Where can I get ______ (regenerating ingredients)?

I'm missing _____ book or _____ card. Where can I FIND it?

How many cards/objects/books are there?     
  • 11 cards, 21 objects and 16 books (the Curses and Counter- Curses book is under Spells). They can be found under the Item Locations tab.

Cheating and PIES

What are time-turning, multiple tabs and wand tricks?
  • All cheating and no, we won't tell you how to do it so because Gryffindors do it the right way

Do the other houses cheat?
  • Some say yes, some say no but it is implied since Pottermore is still in BETA

What are PIES and how can we identify them?
  • Add an "S" in front and what do you get? :) One can identify them by looking at the recent activity area in the common room. If you notice any one melting cauldrons successively or sending a lot of ingredients to another house then that is a possible PIE. Also check someone's profile too before sending ingredients to them. If you notice that someone has negative points or has a ton of ingredients but is asking in the common room for stuff then that is one dodgy person that must be observed.

What will we do if we notice a PIE?
  • Call them out by posting in the common room what they're doing. You can also inform us about it here. Give us the name of the PIE, what he/she did and we'll handle the rest :)
